Zeus, Los Nombres Inmortales

This work serves as an homage to Mnemosyne, the goddess of Memory, and her muses who whispered truth to poets. It emphasizes the significance of memory in Greek culture, where forgetting equates to death. Through writing, Homer preserved an ancient oral tradition dating back to the 15th century BC, immortalizing heroes’ names and deeds. His works, the Iliad and the Odyssey, saved gods and heroes from obscurity, akin to Virgil’s Aeneid preserving foundational myths for Rome. Eduardo Marco’s tribute employs visual and auditory elements, representing around fifteen hundred names from Western narrative in squares, their darkness indicating character importance. This blend of technology and art underscores the timeless power of memory, echoing the reverence of ancient poets for the goddess Mnemosyne. Let us invoke the goddess of Memory and let ourselves be enveloped by the names, just as the great poets did.
